In this event, Jennifer Loftus guides students through conscious movement inspired by rhythmic, evocative music. In this safe space, students learn to dance from the inside out allowing their inner emotions to move them. Allowing the body to move naturally to emotional music is deeply therapeutic. Emotion is “energy in motion” and stuck energy needs to move. Just as wild animals shake off fear, dance allows us to shake out stuck energy and limiting emotions so we can return to our natural flow state and experience joy, freedom, and creative power. Learning to dance through grief and confusion, and turn it into wisdom and clarity, gives us a powerful self-healing tool. Developing a personal dance practice or connecting with conscious dance groups allows us to live with calm confidence, and balanced energy.
This event is designed for teenage girls and no dance experience is necessary. We will close the class with breath work, stretching and a calming meditation and you will leave with some movement practices you can do at home to feel more calm and more positive energy.
Wear something comfortable to dance in, no special shoes are needed since the dance is done barefoot. Bring a water bottle and yoga mat if you have one, otherwise a yoga mat will be provided.
